removing intercooler on a classic
95 wrx.......tried to remove the intercooler yesterday, but pretty much got stuck after removing the three bolts holding it down, and the fat peice of tube at the front. It's attatched to something underneath but not sure what....I didn't want to tug too hard at it, but I need to get to a pipe thats really cracked up and old just underneath the unit as it seems to be causing a boost problem and I think its leaking water from there..
help!!

You need to remove the jubilee clip that connects the intercooler pipe under the intercooler to the turbo and then once that is removed from the turbo it should pull up easy.
The only thing going through that pipe should be hot compressed air from the turbo so there should be no water leaking from it?????
Good luck

the pipe i need to get to doesn't go to the intercooler, its just positioned underneath it. There are too chunky pipes, one slightly higher than the other, and its the higher one i need to get to. i have no idea what they do, where they go or were they come from! i'm just goin to replace the tubing and see if it helps things!! it really is badly cracked up, so its goin to need doing whatever.
i will tackle those cheeky jubilees now, cheers dude

Saying that, there is a line which goes to the inlet manifold from the coolant, which is where you may be getting a water leak from... this is used to warm the inlet manifold up in cold countries (people tend to do a bypass mod on these)
Anyway, its easyer to get to the above pipe by removing the IC... as said, you need to disconnect the pipe from the turbo as well as the inlet, plus the bolts already removed from the IC
