Default Is this a good Turbo??

Bit of an open ended question.

I dont know alot about turbo's, but looking at putting a spec together of bits i want.

And was thinking of a Tomei 2.2 stroker kit, then at a later stage, one of their turbo's.

Can any of the experts tell me if i will see good results with this? What sort of rough bhp i would expect to see on a 2.2 engine.

Sorry for my ignorance, and many thanks for any input!

The said turbo, with compressor wheel specs etc:

Why not just go for something a bit more tried and tested. If you have a search theres loads of turbos out there now and many more in development

For sure, i can do that.

Just wanted a bit of feedback on the above, and would like a little something less run of the mill.

But i guess when the time comes i can get a bit of advice and make my choice.

I looked at this turbo for my 2.5 conversion, problem is most of the info is usdm.
It's about the equivalent of a 20gram and you could buy it from the States, shipped for around £1100 + any tax here. They're about £1700 from EDO Performance here.
Tomei claim similar spool-up to stock with more top end but it struck me the top end gains came more from the swop to 207 heads on the 2.5 which they demonstrate on their US website.
It's probably less of a risk to source a turbo tried and tested here in the UK. It's just that it's going to be either a lot of dosh or older technolegy

thanks for the info Trevsjwood. Interesting to hear.

My main reason for wondering about it, is i want to run Tomei 2.2 stroker kit and Tomei exhaust manifolds.

So thought it might have been developed with these in mind and would work well together.

I am guessing if its similar to a 20g i wouldnt be able to see 450-500bhp with it?

You could visit nasioc.com which is the North American Subaru Owners Club site and go to the 2.5 section-there's a few recent posts on this subject. In particular one by user ihadmail and zeropsi around 21st june.
I found it difficult to get a handle on it all but you may find it interesting.
I would have thought whatever the hype it would be surprising if was more than an honest 400 fly-wheel with the early spool-up they claim
