VF34 is a roller bearing low friction turbocharger with a slightly bigger housing than the VF35, which is a sleeve bearing turbocharger.
The 35 picks up slightly lower down the rev range, the 34 carries on much harder towards the top of the rev range.
Given the option then most people would probably go for the VF34 (as fitted to cars like the S202).

VF34 is a cracking little turbo. Had one on my first forged engine. It was bloody lovely.

The honest answer is: not much on the road!

34 can produce a little more top end, 35 tends to have a slightly lower boost threshold.

I have a 35, which before a Simtek installation was producing 338bhp and 343ft lbs, running a bit more boost now.

The clincher for most people is that the 35 can usually be obtained considerably cheaper.

you can't rebuild a 35 either.

theres not much in it between the two, spools very similar indeed, as in you wont notice any, and the 34 give perhaps 10bhp ish on top if that.

i went 34 becasue i couldn't find a decent 35 for a reasonable price at the time i was runnign 342bhp on a 34 at the same time of ns04 was runnign 338 with pretty much only difference being headers on his where mine are standard and the turbo.
