Default cam belt probs

I have a replacement engine to go in my car and when I come to putting the cam pulleys and belt on none of the pulleys line up. I moved them (very gently so as not to bend any valves) but it will not go where it needs to. what do I do now, the engine is not in the car yet..

Car is a 1998 STi Ra V3

Its the left hand (passenger side) cams you have to be carefull of -

And your timing marks are as below ( ignore the red circle ) -

If your belt is new (or still fresh) it has marks on it that make timing almost fool proof.

Dotted line on crankshaft mark and one solid line per camshaft alignment mark, simples.

Good luck

I wouldn't worry too much about aligning the marks on the belt to the pulleys as it's fiddly, just make sure all the marks are lined up dead on when you come to fit it, it's quite easy when you take your time.

Question

coops1, I know this is a long shot, but I don't suppose you still have your TD05H 20g for sale? See your old thread here:-

Fiddly? It's a piece of p1ss, especially with the engine out....
