Hi im looking for some help as my car has developed a strange grinding noise from the driver side wheel. Ive spoken to subaru main dealer and a well known garage and they all said that it is the wheel bearing as the steering wheel is vibrating and when i go round a corner or a roundabout theres a grindng noise, so took it to a garage this morning and they said they got down to the bearing and looked fine and cudnt see any probs with it, so they didnt charge me for what they have done
Does any one no what this could be? any ideas would be highly appreicated

wheel bearings can look fine and have very little play in them but still make a right racket. Had one on a polo that made a real nasty noise on cornering but had no play in the bearings on either side. Replaced both as a matter of course and noise was gone.

they did say it could be the drive shaft, but they said theres no play in the bearing, just took it out with my mate who is a motorsport engineer and the noise has gone, so im abit confused now as i dont really want to put my foot down, then hit a roundabout and for some thing to go wrong

As said above, Sealed. None Taper seat bearings don't always have play in them, But can still be faulty, If it is a drive shaft Cv or a bearing the noise will come back for sure, Could of been a stone wedged in the disc gaurds or caliper Etc, Although that wouldn't of given you wheel wobble...
Best let it develop a little & see what occurs![Wink](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/wink.gif)
