If you can find out what compressor wheel is used, you'll be able to get the map off the garret website as its very comprehensive, as to which is used, can't see lateral wanting to advertise!

Having said that, get the inducer and exducer sizes and the number of options will be small!

Thanks Simon,

there is not so many options for the garrett compressor wheel. More important "secret data" would be A/R, clearance, build options....etc. I don't see why Lateral would protect which compressor wheel is used. Or at least max LB/min ?
Mark, Andy, any data plase ?

Since the 321 series turbos are "strictly" exclusive to Lateral its completely understandable the the info you are after is not readily available.
I do know that at least one other company has plagiarised that turbo though and is selling the same thing badged as their own.

it's hardly plagiarism Bob. There are only so many cores, and so many housings, and anyone can look at the garrett lineup and say "make me a turbo with this core, a subaru style ex housing and a to4e compressor cover". With and educated guess and a little trial and error the ideal combination is relatively easy to come by.

As a 'H' owner I'd like to know how much difference there is between it, and the 'T'.

your best guide is actual results, which suggest the T is worth about 20-30hp more perhaps, but as with evey car, the engine and supporting parts play a big part in the whole thing.

Well it takes work to do that though and a lot of companies like to take "short cuts". From my experience of a variety of different offerings which are sold as being in the same performances ranges, the 321 series still sets the standard in terms of response and performance.

I would put the difference between a T and a H at a bit wider than that, variable feast as you say dependant on car, mods etc. A std engine base will obviously have a smaller differential than an uprated one.

The reason I ask is that my 2002 STI, + "H" has a touch too much lag for my liking, to be resolved with a 2.1 motor ! As I'd like to see 2 bar of boost (safely ! ).....

Odd, could be the associated mods need "adjusting", the 321h is easily spooled to 1 bar by 3000 rpm, with vvt it ought to be into surge !! Suggest getting the cam advance looked into.

cheers

JGM was quite happy with the car's AVCS whilst mapping, but I asked him to make it last through 2009....

"She" doesn't make 1 bar by 3000 rpm, but shortly after all hell breaks loose and it whips round to 1.6 bar ( lurvely !).

Guilty of a "test run" to 2 bar just the once.... Crikey !

Need some more of that !

P.S. Thanks for the feedback.

No probs, since its been mapped that way (on request) then you could always get it tweaked then.

cheers

The MD321H is conservatively said by Mark to be 400hp turbo.

Also said is if you have a built engine 430hp is possible with more boost.

Even more 480 ish with bio or race fuel - presumably even more boost.

What sort of boost levels are we talking about ?

Harvey is supplying a custom up-pipe for the GT Spec II headers assuming you've fitted them. It should help spool by about 300rpm with no loss of topend.

I've bought one, but it won't be fitted until I've sorted mounting my oil cooler. I can see the up-pipe has a narrower venturi and profile at the top. It's slip-jointed too, which can't be a bad thing. About £160 delivered.
