Now thats a proper oil question

I would be using Silkolene pro S 10w-50 or Motul 300V 15w-50.

Would also consider 3 month oil changes during periods when its taken on the track.

Does your engine have any extra provision for oil cooling barring the factory modine?

Rather than start a new post, as this is sort of the same for me...

I'm running 435bhp and use Millers 10w40, changed every 6 months. Will this be ok?

Im running 400/400 and use a 15w40 semi, the engines been in 2 years and done several track days with no problems. The likes of Silkolene, Motul have a more stable viscosity when hot hot. My engines a 2.5 so likes oil, I have an oil cooler to fit and am also thinking about switching to a 10w60.

Depends how you drive the car and if you track it.

Which Millers is it? as there are various types that are the same viscosity.

If its semi synthetic and you use the car hard, I'd consider switching to a full synthetic, or change it more regularly. If its the full synthetic 6months should be ok if its just road use (excepting short jorneys, which also require more regular chnages).

It's fully synth I use. The CFS one.

I don't do track days, but do do some short journeys for work etc. May start changing it every four months maybe, so 3 times a year.

Some proper real world advice given above. Makes a change on these here oil threads

I've always used a good API ACEA spec semi synth changed every couple of months.

It costs me £25 max to do an oil change and i've never had any problems this has been on daily drivers ranging from 250 - 450bhp.

That said my current build will only ever see a proper fully synth such as Millers, Silkolene mobil one etc.

i have been using silkolene pro s 10/50 for years, from standard power up to now just under 400 bhp, i change at 5000 miles or just before, never after, and only do it on miles not time. 5k miles takes me around 7 ish months min
