Is ther any software that i can get hold of for my laptop to enable me look into my cars system and read and clear the error codes etc .If there is what cables do i need and where does it plug in the car.

If you get a tactrix cable you can read error codes using learning view, it also shows if you have experienced any knock activity, also romraider has a useful live monitoring where you can see what the car is doing. There is also a standalone monitor that connects to the odbII port that can give a live feedback and also read and cancel error codes called scangauge. The leads are about £80 and I think the scangauge is about £120.
