What would be the pro's & cons of fitting one of these to my "99 Type R?
I recently had an Ecuteck remap by Andy Forrest leaving the car at 325bhp on the standard turbo.
Would the car need remapped again to support this mod?
Apologies for all the questions...no experience of boost controllers

IMHO the std. ecu can only control boost up to a limit, beyond the level your std. engine can withstand. I would suggest the Apexi may alter in gear boost control, but SHOULDN'T be used to try to extract more power. Forged re-build first.

P.S. Same problem here, 2 bar turbo, 1.6 bar ecu, 1.8 bar safe motor.....

I've a pretty strong bottom end at the minute- V9 crossdrilled & nitrided crank, ACL race bearings, Eagle forged rods, cosworth sump baffle & competition oil pump, although I'm running standard Sti pistons.
Would this be safe to use the boost controller for more power do ya reckon?
Only reason I'm asking is because it seems a FAR cheaper alternative to going down the route of a FMIC, bigger turbo, injectors & another remap.
