Map needed straight away or not
Hi have 2004 wrx with prodrive map, full decat exhaust, Induction kit, pink injectors, walbro 255 fuel pump, fmic and have VF35 turbo on it's way. Will I need to get it mapped straight away or will it be ok with the ppp map for now, I only use car weekends and odd nights as I use partners car for work.

You will need it mapped the day after the mods.
My advice would be to fit one mod at a time, then take it a drive to make sure its running ok because if you fit them all at once and you find the car doesnt run/ runs poorly, you've a lot of things to check.
Remember, drive it off boost once the pinks and VF35 are fitted. Mind you, you wont have a choice as it'll run like sh@t 'till its mapped

I can get a ecutek ecu for 150 which was mapped for fmic 3" system and turbo, so would that fit straight in and work or would it need a mp still and how much roughly, it's from a 2003 Sti.

Where abouts are you, it will help as there are lots of people that will do it and price is always about the same give or take a few quid. Saying that there are some people that are much better then others at mapping..

If you don't map it immediately you put the turbo on it there is a good chance of causing very serious/expensive engine damage.
If it was not mapped previously, particularly for the FMIC you are already at risk.
Drive the car off boost until it is mapped or you run a real risk of denting your bank account.
Buying an already mapped ECU is not the answer. It is not mapped for your car so it still needs a remap. The only advantage may be if it already holds an Ecutek licence but that should only be an option for those with detailed knowledge and even then there is the risk of being stuffed.
The ECU is the key to your future performance and the life of your engine. Do it properly and do it once. Cut corners here and it will probably cost you dearly.

Fit everything at once and get a remap very soon afterwards and before you give it the beans. You might be able to get an ECU with a licence but you are entering a murky area and taking a bit of a risk. On several occasions I have come across people buying ECUs they were told had licences but they did not.
