ive got a oil drip on to the exhaust at the front on the right hand side just above the exhaust somewhere.
any ideas what it could be beforei start the job?
i did have the crank pulley replaced this week as the bolt was loose and pulley worn.
its not leaking lots but we all know a couple of drips on a exhaust makes a lot of smoke
thanks in advance
the car was off the road for a few days so had borrow the g-f's saxo.made me love my subaru even more.on the first day i.d been over taken twice within 8 miles!!!never happens in the impreza, think people treat you differant in a quick car.

What year is your car cos i had the same prob on a version 3 wrx. it was the powersteering pump. i stopped it with powersteering fluid stop leak from A1 motorspares. leak stopped within 1 hour of topping up. highly recommend using this stuff. only cost 6 quid. wish id used it before i got another pump. it is a common prob with early scoobs this was cured by version 4 scoobs. hope this helps.

It might be your rocker cover gasket / seal leaking this is what caused mine last week turned out to be a loose bolt tightend it and no more smoke.
I have heard this can be very dangerous on a scoob. i.e setting fire to the car.

this is mark on mates comp.
its a 98 uk turbo.
its not the rocker gasket as i replaced the drivers side in feb.
will look into the power steering pump.
its dripping underneath the timing cover onto exhaust near to where the water pipe leaves the radiator into the engine

id say its the front crank shaft oil seal, cheap seal but alot of time to fix, timing belt has to come off, so if it needs doing soon enough id change it while you have it off, rad will have to come out to to get to the timing belt

FRONT CRANK SEAL HELL OF A JOB DO DONE ON MINE FEW MONTHS AGO I WOULD ADVISE TO GET IT DONE IF YOU NOT SURE WHAT TO DO,WHILE YOU CHANGING THE SEAL JUST CHANGE THE TIMING BELT AND CHECK YOUR WATER PUMP I CHANGED ALL PLUS THE OIL PUMP ASWELL

its hard to say if it is the gasket, if you are changing the gasket just to the crank seal aswell will only cost you few quid more, i had same sort of oil leak i wasnt sure was so i did change the crank seal i sealed the oil pump properly job done, it would cost you alot if you just change the gasket and later discover that the crank seal need replacing too.
