i have a 1998 engine in my 1993 classic no problems.

Also you can fit almost any engine,

just make sure you get a map. You can use your old classic loom and coils on the 1997-2000 engines tho.

beardy, are you saying you can use a phase 2 engine in a 95 wrx if you use the wrx loom and coilpacks? as i understood, this cant be done as i asked the same question and was told only a -96 engine would "drop" in as there are a few differences. thanks bryan

I am running a later stage engine in my classic, useing my 1993 loom. No problems what so ever. Only thing i had to swap was the return oil pipe that goes to the turbo, as the newer engine had the return in a different place. Just use your own sensers, crank, cam, knock etc. And you will be ok. Sti engine you will need the ecu etc i think.

Also you could drop a 2.5litre 2009 engine in, you would just need loom, ecu etc to make it work
