Default small coolant leak, pictures inside

I have a coolant leet that i can see on the top of the block. when the engine is up to temp or even after driving, i can not see any sighns of where the coolant might be coming from.
i suck up the coolant that i can see with a turkey paster, go for a drive and it is back again.

it is not a big leak, but all the same, it should not be leaking at all really.

here are some pics.

1st few are looking down onto the engine block between the turbo and inlet manifold, just infront of the breather pipe there

and this one is looking down next to/behind the power steering pump

this is the header tank side (no coolant that i can see around here)

hope this helps

any ideas?

thanks
ian

It could be leaking from the metal cross pipe on top off the engine, or the coolant pipes from the turbo, just had a look on mine and those are the only possible places it could leak from

Could be the temp senders in the water cross feed pipe? Hope it's not the cross feed pipe itself, the hole inlet manifold would have to come off!

the pipe from the bottom of the header tank looks and feels dry, and the defi sender under it is also dry.

coolant pipe from the header tank to the turbo is dry.

i have got a feeling it could be the water cross pipe, but want to make sure 1st, as it is alot of work to take the inlet manifold etc off, and a even longer way back to the garage!

Do you have a garage near to you? If so go in and ask them if they can do a pressure test on your car. This involves pressurising the coolant system with a pump secured to the header tank, so the engine is cool'ish and you hopefully will be able to see where the coolant is coming from.

Hope this helps Steve

Cross pipe to block seals it looks like reused or new ones when you fitted 2.1?
Not having much luck, what with that boost leak previously, what was issue then?

the funny noise from what i thought was a boost leak turned out to be a ppe that was made for me has some holes in it from where it was weilded, and had sliped down from under a silicone joiner and then started to make the funny noise.

how would i be able to tell about the seals on the cross pipe?

Sounds sensible move.
Have you check top rad hose where it connects to cross pipe and the coolant feeds to throttle body and heater matrix connections?
