Default Bunch of *******!!

After a few days of fighting with my clutch not disengaging i got ****ed off and pulled the motor out for the third time in two weeks.

Its really a pity i did not check in the first place but the clutch CGmotorsport sent me was the wrong one.

If i measure from the flywheel to the back of the release bearing the new set up is much bigger than the original, i should have checked the two against each other before i went ahead.

I cant start to tell you how ****ed off i am, i have a pregnant girlfriend ready to give birth any day and i am without car once more due to someones mess up.

Anyone know where i can buy a clutch in London tomorrow? I know its bank holiday but tell that to a baby wanting out!

****ing *******!!

Take a look at the two

Nightmare....goodluck with that, I'd keep a Taxi firm or reliable friend on speed dial just incase until you can get it fixed up. Not being from London I can't really help you out with sourcing a clutch though sorry.

You can get the release bearing off but thats not the issue. Take a look at the photo, here are both the new and old clutches. Both have their release bearings attached, the one on the motor shows just how much the release bearing sits further away than the old one in my hand.

The bearing has a clip on the inside that you pull apart, that releases the bearing and you can pull it out. Easy.

have you taken off the gold preasure plate and measured them wen there both off the fly wheel because to me there the right tickness its just because the clutch plate is pushing the bearing out as its taking up the space between fly wheel and preasure plate

Where the release bearing connects to the clutch is where the difference is, the cold one has these prong like fingers pointing towards the centre, well its prongs point towards the outside. On the old clutch they point inside towards the flywheel. The two casings are the same size but the inner stuff is where it goes **** up. With the old one set up on my spare flywheel the release bearing sits about 5mm higher that in the picture above. The gold one is still like 30mm further

If the fingers on your old clutch were bent too far in, that would give you exactly the symptoms you first described (clutch stopped disengaging). Looking at a spare clutch I've got here and comparing it to your picture, the throw-out bearing sticks out around half as much as on your yellow clutch, but definitely more than on your old one.

I wish it was something else. Like i said above i have two motors at home i have mounted the old clutch to the spare motor and the distance between the flywheel and the release bearing is way smaller than the new setup.

Right, but like I tried to say before, what if the bearing is actually sticking out less on the old clutch just because it's knackered (the fingers have lost their spring-strength or got bent, so they're pointing further in than normal)?

Just confirmed it was the wrong clutch. Took both set ups new and old and set them up on the flywheel. Both torqued up the new clutch is 8mm further away from the flywheel then the old. Please note that the old clutch was not fooked, i was just replacing the clutch and flywheel to get rid of a evil judder.

I just took 2 hours to refit the motor with the old clutch and guess what, it works.

Anyway the guy's who sold me the clutch will refund me.

Cheers for the info guy's.

Not sure why your taking the engine out it is much quicker to remove the gearbox and leave the engine in place. You only need to remove the downpipe, centre section and prop. Remove starter, clutch actuator, pin for the fork, wiring to gearbox, gearbox cradle and then yank. Do this all the time with the car on good axle stands and use a good trolley jack to support the gearbox as it comes out.
In and out in around 4 hours.
