Start at around £60-ish on popular auction sites now.
edit:
probably even less than that, prices look like they've really come down, as the technology's been around so long.

hid kits are definatly worth there money, ive been running a set of duel type hids for over two years now and i cant fault them. it opens up a new world to you when driving, road markings, traffic lights, road sighns all go ping when you lights shine on them. you will also get the odd motorist flashing at you because they think your on main beam but there soon shown the real meaning of main beam by a touch of the stalk. get some hids you wont look back.

haha me dad says the same. he got angel lights but so bright an has to drive down the road with his hand ready on the stalk coz he always gets flashed so give them the b*****ks lol. im defo going to get some as i cant see jack on the road with mine at mo

no im on 6000k 35w but im gonna get some 50w for the mains. they dont recomend them for road use, i dont see why not. you dont use the mains all the time only for deserted roads and blinding poeple

Totally! :-)
I'd rather see more of the road/hazards... instead of having the 'fashionable' blue light, just for the sake of having the blue. :-(
Effectiveness over 'vanity'...

ive never seen the 4300k in the flesh. i thought the 6000k was a good sorce of light from the pictures when i bought them, and they are in real life the higher 1200k looked like they should be in a local taxi. not one for blue my self.

ive just bought a set so will see the results. i didnt know if i had to say which watt bulb i wanted so hopefully they will send it out the right 1 for my car. cant wait to blind people haha

Is the 6000k pretty much still perceived as white without ANY blue tinge then? Is it bright enough in your opinion? (well ANYTHING is compared to the goddamn awful OEM crap!)

Regarding wattage, AFAIK, only the BALLASTS are wattage rated differently, all bulbs are 35W.
Therefore, whether a 50W ballast gives more light than a 35W one, is debatable.
BTW: LOVE the comments about blinding people, driving with one hand on the stalk............basically because your beam patterns are all over the place
Eventually there's gonna be a clamp-down on aftermarket HID's as they ARE illegal.

Not saying you're wrong (not saying you're right either ), but if aftermarket HID conversions were so obviously unsuitable for factory-fit scoobie headlamps, wouldn't this show up pretty quickly at MOT time? Just to be clear, I've passed 2 tests since I fitted mine, and they didn't even need adjusting (which they've needed plenty of times in the past on other, non-HID-fitted cars I've owned).

u can never be to bright lol. id rather see that deer run across the road than hit it an write my car off. for all the people it blinds well it does state never look directly into the light lol

While I like seeing where I am going, be aware that without automatic headlight self levelling and washers fitting HID is illegal, some forces are now clamping down on this. Not sure on the MOT standpoint though!
