Default STI V6 Dash Into '97 WRX...

... is this possible?

Together with the clocks aswell, as thats the main reason i'm wanting to do this as defo prefer the interior of the facelift classics.

Is this is possible, i'll obviously need the dash out of a V6 but what else would I need? Door Cards?

Cheers

I'm sure it's possible... but I myself would shudder at the prospect.

It'd be the rewiring of looms to the clocks, etc. that would surely be a nightmare(?)....

^ What he said. If you have the knowhow and time to do it all yourself, then anything's possible. However, adapting the electrics and heater controls isn't by any means a plug and play setup.

I'd be getting proper interior people to do it, just need to know that it does go and what exactly I would need. Thanks for the replies

Short of someone popping up to tell you they've done it, it's impossible to tell you whether it will "go", and it's similarly difficult to give you a comprehensive list of what you'll need.

The biggest questions to answer would be whether the 99/00 instrument cluster would work on a '97 loom, even if the physical connection issue (i.e. different shape plugs) was sorted out, and also whether the 99/00 heater control panel will connect to your '97 HVAC pack. If the answer to the second question turns out to be no, the list of needed parts will expand, while if you need specialist electrical assistance to make the dash work, that'll be a lot more £'s.

Physically, the dash should defo wholesale fit in as, AFAIK, the Classic cockpit's dimensions, etc. didn't change between the earliest MY93 through to the latest MY00.

It's just a different style dash designed to still fit the existing shaped shell.

Getting stuff to physically fit is the easy part. Making it all work is the complex bit. The 97-98 heater box is a different part number from the 99-00 one, for example. So, will 99-00 dials (either the Japanese or the UK variant) link up with and control an earlier car's? Same question applies to the electrical specifications of the instrument cluster.

Yep - it's the electronics that will be THE challenge!

Good luck though OP... and post up before and after pics if you do go for it...
