How do I ID a sti engine
Picking a 96 sti engine up and to be positive it's a genuine sti engine is there any way to make sure it is an sti engine besides the red inlet?

- 1996 could be a MY96 STi Version II (Sep 95 - Aug 96).
If so, engine code on the VIN should read EJ20GDW5** (don't mean to say that's what's in the car now of course!!!)
They have 380cc grey/blue injectors and no visible coilpack on the inlet manifold (the 'coilpacks' are on the plug-end of the ignition leads).
- 1996 could also be a MY97 STi Version III (Sep 96 - Aug 97).
If so, engine code on the VIN should read EJ20KDW6**.
They have 440cc yellow injectors and a coilpack/HT leads centrally fixed to the inlet manifold.
