Default Dash switch

I'm trying to sorce a auto intercooler siwtch for a 2003 impreza.
I contacted the dealer who said they can't get them, any idea where sells them?
Other option is another dash switch that is latching, are the front fog switches latching?

So your Subaru dealer is telling you they can't get hold of a Subaru part???

I personally would contact another dealer.

I've spoke to 2 dealers, one phoned Subaru UK and they said its not something they have stocked as its a JDM part.

I've looked on ebay for 2 weeks now and not seen anything come up so started looking at other switches I could use instead.
I would prefer the proper one though.

A dealer will order it from I.M & then I.M will order it from japan if you ask them.

What type of switch do you need to make the auto IC work?

Does it automatically revert back to the 'open circuit/off' postion after a certain time or something?

I.M. I think stands for Independent Manufacturer?

Re the IC switch... What, just so that it stays on, like for example a regular OEM front or rear foglight switch, where it will only turn off if you press it out again?

If so mate, I've got a front fog switch with the connector and all but one of the pigtail wires for the sockets available (5 out of 6, I think?)...

Would this tide you over in the meantime?

Basically yes press it it stays on press it it goes off.
I did buy a switch but behind the blank is box section so wouldn't fit.
If the foglamp switch is for a newage or same style then yes it would do me fine.

Sure - that's what I meant.

Nah, it's from a Classic. Do they not fit - or can they not be made to fit - into the New Age dash cut-out then? After all it will only be a temporary fix until you find a proper switch.

I.M. stands for International Motors. They are the UK's official importers of Subaru's and control the dealer network. They supply the cars for the showrooms & the genuine parts to their dealers.

If you need a part that is not stocked in the UK because it belongs to a JDM car then all the dealer has to do is place an order like it would for any other subaru part & I.M will then bring it into the country with all the other parts that it orders & deliver it to the dealer in the normal way.

The switches are different designs, well the intercooler one is anyway.

So can I contact IM or does the dealer have to? Think I'd stand better chance if I had the part number if anyone knows where to get it from?

You can't order direct from I.M as they don't sell directly to the public, you would have to place the order with a dealer.

A part number would make life much easier and I would help you with this but I only have the facility to look up JDM part numbers for classic cars.

If someone on here has a New Age Sti fitted with the Auto button and they were kind enough to give you their vin/chassis no: it would then be possible to get hold of the correct part number for you.

If someone could do that it would be spot on, or even whip the switch out and take down the number for me.

I'm doing it as the bit to convert it to run auto cost me less then £20, granted its only triggered by boost and not ideal as everyone will tell you but it was a cheap easy mod if I could get hold of the switch.

Cool. Will be worth while doing!

I thought on our ECU's it was totally impossible to run it on auto? Only JDM ECU's were capable of it?

You can't use our ECU, the ecu did it off boost temp etc whilst im only using boost. Yeah I may use a fair bit of water but it is free at the end of the day.

I'm piggy backing into the OEM loom through the auto switch when I get one down to the boost switch then back into the loom. The switch has NO and NC contacts so off the NC I'll run an LED to tell me its on and when the led goes out the spray is going.

For how cheap it was may as well give it a go, I'll log data with and without it see if it does make a difference at all.

Why are newage switches hard to find on ebay, one front fog and it looks damaged!

Yup tried ebay.com etc and still no joy.
I have it ordered now anyway and it was cheaper new then what I thought it would be. I could have fitted a cheaper switch but wanted to keep the oem look so don't mind paying the extra for it.
