They do, but I believe the springs or mechanisms on say a WRX or Spec C are different to that of the STi, because of the spoiler weight difference.

Later models, 2004 onwards IIRC, have a larger hole for the lock.

As Shaun says, different models have different strength springs, but they are fitted to the hinges.

With apologies for the thread hijack - but it is related - if I de-spoiler my STi, will I have problems if I don't change the hinge springs then?

It won't cause much of a problem. Just make sure the boot doesn't chin you when you open it!!

Hi-jacking again...

Are the mounting holes of a Spec C (S202 style) wing in the same place as the standard WRX spoiler mounting holes?

Any idea where I can get a second hand WRX bootlid for a good price, or one without any holes drilled in it at all (the one I need depends on the answer to the first question)?

Going to swap my STi wing for a Spec C one, so either need to get the un-wanted holes filled/painted, or swap the bootlied over; the latter seems easier
