Btw forgot to say, excessive toe would normally cause both inner edges to go I would have thought so that might not be the issue. Perhaps, if asymmetrics, the wheels have already been rotated around the car? Hmm still not convinced that's an explanation actually.

The factory settings are has been said "0" toe front and back, but this will inherintley give you a fair amount of understeer!
If however you are going to the expense of having a proper 4 wheel alingment set-up, you would see a great improvement in handling & balance if you dialed in some fast road settings.
Front toe = 1.5mm toe in (total)
Rear toe = 1.0mm toe in (total)
Front Camber = -1deg

Considering the accuracy of that equipment, about zero will do.
To get the best out of your tyres and the handling you would need to go for a full 4 wheel geometry set up, but this of course costs a lot more than £15. At the end of the day it's all about what you can afford to do.
I personaly would get the ball joints & bushes checked at the front. Something is not right if you are wearing 1 inner & 1 outer edge of your front tyres. A simple front toe check/adjust is unlikely to cure the problem.

I would be tempted to get a proper 4 wheel alignment done if you havent' had it done before or recently. Basic laser setup won't do for this - you need to find somewhere with a Hunter system or other high-end wheel alignment equipment. It can cost more but it's worthwhile as it sets the car up for better handling response (if the right settings are applied) and will save you money on unevenly worn tyres.
