Thumbs up

Hi all,

Just had my GEMS ECU fitted and mapped. I have done 250 miles since the installation and can honestly say that I am delighted with the results. The ECU is mapped a little conservatively (1.3 Bar 3000~5500 then tailing off to 1.1 at 6250~6500) but mid range torque is much improved. I don¡¦t have RR results yet but expect 290 ~ 300 lbs from a little over 3000. Peak power I expect is still 280 ~ 290 bhp with the setup I am running.

The map was very thorough with around 2 hours of on road mapping with around 100~120 miles covered. This part of the process was fascinating as I could discuss there and then what was being set as base parameters. The 14 load sites were utilised well for both fuel and ignition and in having 14 load sites we didn¡¦t have to settle for any detrimental compromises. I even tried the ¡¥CANS¡¦ headphones to hear faint DET myself. This occurred at around 3600 and I expect that this is not uncommon to STi Imports of similar model and age to mine. Not even one LED lit on the KL with max sensitivity and the piezo mic is mounted on the block??. You can only imagine how many cars knock albeit a little at this point in the power band.

Before anyone asks¡K.I used to get the LEDS lit as you can see in some previous anxious posts.

Knock Link now ¡K.never shows an LED lit. Idle too is excellent with better control and stability compared to that of my std ECU and setup. Other plus points ¡V

MOT fix ¡V ECU now mapped at the emission rev check point to aid passing. I guess if you had a friendly service agent this was no big deal.

Dual Map ¡V Set map2 for 95 RON or when the wife drives ƒº

Anti LAG ¡V This at the flick of a switch can entertain fans in the car park. Seriously though¡K. after all your mates have admired the flame outs and coughing and spluttering, this can aid in lower speed twisty bits as the turbo is held at .8 Bar between gears.

I know I have rambled on a bit but in conclusion the GEMS seems to be a quality piece of kit that not only protects my engines and safeguards its future. I have not noticed obvious negatives compared with the standard ecu. In fact it is arguably smoother, that is ignoring the torque improvement. If anyone would like more info feel free to email me.

Cheers all

Julian

OH and on a final note ¡K my self designed splitter for the STi4+ top mount IC had some superb results. During the entire mapping process the highest temperature seen was 32 Deg C !!!!!!!!!! Even my helpful mapper was amazed ¡K. . The norm during mapping of a similar car/setup 50 Deg C+ would have been normal high temps.
