Default 96 impreza r wagon

bought mine today, got a boost leak, pretty loud, knew it was there so got my hands dirty and checked all pipes, is the hard plastic pipe meant to have a rubber gasket where it meets intercooler??! it would make sense that this is where leak is coming from but cant really check as only happens on boost and not at idle.

thought i'd add details of my new ride, photos soon, silver, 45k miles, mint inside, no rust, prodrive exhaust

yes there should be a gasket where the ic pipe meets the intercooler, your better off going to the main dealers for gaskets as there usaly cheaper to buy than aftermarket ones. it shouldent cost more than a tenner

As dbay says, there's defo a rubber gasket there. It's a bespoke formed thing - it has a little raised circumferential lip to it that hugs around the outside of the plastic feedpipe so it creates a perfect seal, etc, etc...

dont suppose anyones got a part number have they? is there an online parts catalogue anywhere? obviously need one, cars not on road till next week anyway, got my tdi passat on ebay at moment, got that chipped to 158hp, was ok, but NEEDED something quicker!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

are there certain dealers that are better than others in uk, located in stafford near stoke.

leak was so loud i thought someone had removed a boost gauge an not plugged vacuum pipe or fitted a bleed valve or something, but glad its the gasket, getting my alarm fitted this week hopefully, cat one viper or toad, depending on what the boss lets me fit, work for a car security shop, we fit loads of alarms to scoobys have to chuckle sometimes at the fog lamp switches that are fitted with twin core and an inch square rocker switch screwed into dashboard surround, only thing we dont like doing is remote start on manual cars for obvious reasons, anyway, must sign off for the night. cheers for the heads up guys, will post pics up tommorow
