Default STI newbie saying hello

Hi just got myself a 55 sti bugeye. And i will proboably asking yous some silly questions in the future but i am sure you can put me straight. The car is standard at the moment but i have some plans when i can get some reddies together.
Just trying to sell my integra type R at the moment to raise some funds.
could anyone tell me if fitting a dump valve that dumps to atmosphere has any bad effects on the running of the car or do you need a remap. cheers.

If it's "MY55" it's either a car from the future or a car from the past! You're mixing up model year with year of registration.

I will take some pics tomorrow and get them on. Is it worth changing the dump valve or are you better off leaving the stock item on? Just want to start off the mods small to start with but any advice on what to do first would be appreciated.

It will still need a remap if you do this though as it will boost spike and frag the engine (common problem on decatted new age STI's) which will cost you about 650 quid for the ecutek remap

Hi Scooby doo 99,

If you want a VTA dump valve, treat yourself, mine is fine after 7-1/2 years with no discernible side effects so far... got the stiffest spring available in mine, so it only dumps above 1.5 bar of boost, and hence above 4000 rpm under full load.

A decent quality exhaust system is a good first mod. IMHO

Enjoy !
