Default REMAP HELP

I bought an 02 sti uk spec from a dealer, the car had been remapped with a decat downpipe on it by JGM. The dealer before they sold me the car removed the decat downpipe and replaced it with a standard part.

Can i run the car safely without the decat downpipe without wrecking the engine. I don't really want to have to buy a decat pipe as the car seem quick enough and appear to run alright, but what do i know.

Please explain the possible problems and if i need to buy a decat pipe. If so are the one's on ebay for £125 any good?

Cheers.

So make them pay for the re-map.....

They took it off, now it's your problem.

Default JGM

Northeast, County Durham, consett.

If I put another decat downpipe on will that put the car back up to it's remapped power of 339bhp. That's the power it was putting out after the remap.

I thought the car would have worked ok but just at a reduced output.

differing makes etc.. but should be closer than the standard one.

It may well be safer but it is more restrictive and was mapped with a less restrictive exhaust which will effect fuelling and boost and ignition the engine will take etc..
agree it is the right direction rather than fitting a decat if it were mapped with cat etc

since it was mapped with a decat downpipe fitted the logical thing to do is fit another decat pipe and hope it retores it back to the 339bhp.

Cheers.
