Default Only got 3wd.

Right i went to investigate a brake problem and the brakes seem to be fine.Basically braking at high speed i can feel a big wobble from the front left wheel, also through the pedal and steering wheel,Jacked the whole car up to test the 4wd and to start all four wheels spin and then the passenger side wheel stops while the rest still turn. When moving the wheels by hand. The driver side wheel moves the two rear wheels and not the passenger front wheel, The driver side rear
moves the passenger rear and the drivers front not the passengers front. And same for the passenger rear moves everything bar the problem wheel. When i spin the problem wheel the drivers side spins the opposite direction and the rear wheels really struggle to spin move a little and stop and then another little bit. Help me, Diff related?
Now was told as my car is a 97 wrx type ra that there is an open diff on the front and the fact that only one wheel spins is fine. Any opinions. Cheers.

From what you're saying sounds like it could be okay - with an open front diff, it will tend to turn the front wheel with the least resistance when drive is applied. When turning it by hand, it may turn the other front wheel in the opposite direction. Turning the opposite front wheel by hand in your case is turning the rear wheels, probably because thats the easiest place for the drive to escape to

It sounds like the left front wheel has more resistance to movement than the right front wheel, which would be consistent with some problem / issue with braking on that wheel, possibly due to the brakes sticking on or dragging on that wheel.

Check to see if extra effort is required to turn the left front wheel compared to the right front wheel, or take the car for a short drive, then park up and check the temperature of the wheels / brakes (carefully in case they're really hot!) - I'll bet the left front is warmer than the right front.

In short, don't think its a drive issue, sounds more like an issue with the brakes on the left front imho

Hope that helps

sounds like a slight warp on a disc or a sticky caliper or caliper slide mine did this and it looked to be that the discs were warped which they were but the cause was a sticky caliper slide which in turn caused the disc to warp
