Default ej20 ???

mornin all !!! am a tad simple when it comes to engines and am a relative newb to scoobys , so i could do with something clearing up please .
i have a 1993 wrx waggon import and got told when i got it it had a v2 sti red top engine in it ?? now it does have the red inlet manifold ,well whats left of the red anyway !!! and the engine says ej20 on it ? is that a sti or just a wrx as i aint got a clue lol .

All 2 litre impreza lumps are called EJ20.

Including sport! Not just Impreza, every 2.0 (since it arrived in Legacy in 1989) is an EJ20.

You need the full engine number for a proper answer, besides AIUI redtops didn't come in until V3, V1 and V2 are silver!

well that just shows how much i know doesnt it lmao !!!!

the top is red and the geezer told me a new engine had been fitted , so its possibly a v3 then ??? or he just painted it red to make me look a t**t lol , am doing a good job of that myself.
