Is it best to use the standard filter system, or an aftermarket one like K&N.

Mine has a K&N air filter and was wondering whether there are any benefits to using these or do they just suck in hot air under the bonnet leading to slight decrease in performance.

Or is it better to use a K&N and have it shielded from the heat and have a feed to it for cold air?

i asked this before on this forum and i was recommended a green panel filter and standard airbox.i did get one and its an improvement on the old.
