Bout 2.5k I'd guess to get it done properly.

Suggest you speak to David at APi. He'll give you a no-obligation, no BS low down.

DO NOT just go for the cheapest quote; it's not a job you'll want to have to have done twice!

Good luck mate!

hi mate, after doing this my self & finding out its not just the internals that need changing.

its also the valves & cams, as the compresion is different on the sti's pistons thus needing differnt valves cams ect.

its cheaper to get your self a full sti engine, you could then source some cash for your old lump.

i did this to my uk classic, put sti v4 internals in there. made the car stronger, but once mapped the car had bottom end issues (no real boost till i hit 3/3.5k) i've since got sti v4 heads to fit.

but it would have been alot cheaper to get the whole engine from the start

yep, and if you get it have it fitted.
you can then sell your old engine, get some of the cash back

going the other way would cost more than double mate

that would work.. the only issue is you never know with it how long it has sat or what life it has had.. and it would be worth therefore replacing the bearings and a block with no heads on open to the elements in an environment when engines and cars are stripped is not going to remain clean etc..

Talk to Subaru they used to do an exchange short engine for less than that..

I have just looked at car for first time since as just got fed up an dumped on mums drive. The knocking happens at around 2500rpm only when revs are coming down.

I have brought a crank, bearings pistons rods and oil pump.

typical with bearings.. noise is when off load ( down rev).

you need to do oil cooler (modane) too

Where the oil filter screws into is an oil/water cooler.
It is difficult to ensure fully clean when rebuilding so best to replace.
