Default Best clutch for daily 450/480 driver??

Any ideas on an "OEM feeling" clutch for 450 bhp / 480lb/ft?

I have an AP Racing Ceremetallic single plate paddle clutch which is rubbish for a daily driver.

Much judder and quick engagement. Catches the Mrs. Out when parking!

Looking for something which feels like the factory clutch with no judder or thrash or rattles.

Speak to David at api, great products and great service.

If you look in the group buy section, they have a group buy running too

Cheers Dazza. Yeah, my car is with Dave now engine ready to go in, waiting for a clutch but I don’t want the AP cerematalic clutch back in. It is rubbish for a daily driver IMO.

Just read the group buy. That clutch isn't right for mine. I have 450/480/ six speed

Fit and forget solution really is an exedy twin plate, but can be a little juddery pulling away and rattles a bit.

Would rather "OEM in terms of operation and noise" if that's possible. Anyone around Hampshire with an exedy twin plate I can see and hear please??

Lol. Why is there an advert at the top of this thread warning me about overspending on a new handbag?

Shouldn’t it be advertising anything with breasts or perhaps something to help me with my car???

The ACT clutches are quite good and a one with a heavy duty pressure plate and a 540lbs clutch would be fine. I used to have that type in my car and it was fine

Another vote for the exedy twin, don't get any rattles from mine but can judder like hell if you let it bite wrong, pedal feels almost standard

All helpful stuff above guys - but Ian doesn't get on with the judder bit. That is what we are trying to eliminate. No point in posting that something is briiliant if it judders in this instance.

I use an ACT 6 paddle, no problems whatsoever and very nice to use on a daily driver.
I was wary at first as I had read horror stories about 6 paddle clutches but luckily for me, nada.
I didnt even have the flywheel skimmed, which I would probably do next time round.

I wouldn't recommend the Exedy twin plate for a daily driver

Anyone used one of these?

Products - Carbon Blade Clutch - Carbonetic UK Ltd

They are supposed to be difficult to tell from an OEM clutch.

dont know to be honest, though ive had this clutch for 4 years in that time rcm replaced a bearing, i have asked rcm several times to replace with a twinplate and they keep asking why? as its not slipping and i dont drag, but op wants user friendly clutch not twinplate?

Sorry to hi-jack the thread but do any of you Exedy twin plate users get a vibration through the car at about 1700 rpm in the higher gears ? I have this problem at the moment and have been told it is caused by the clutch.

Just called AP Racing and they reckon they have nothing that can handle 480 lb/ft in the organic range. Do you remember the part number? What was it? Single, twin etc? How much did you pay for it?

There was one that is now discontinued called the CP6082 – but apparently that wouldn’t have been up to the job anyway.

Cheers.

Got any URL's to share? I can't find any dealers in the UK. What specific model exactly are you refering to?

http://www.advancedclutch.com/products/racediscs.aspx says Harsh engagement & chatter.... Not what I'm looking for!

Cheers.

I got my clutch kit complete from Bob'5 on here, aztec performance.
Try a PM to him.

No harsh engagement or chatter, its bloody excellent for me and was working like a charm at 450bhp.

Quick Reply: Best clutch for daily 450/480 driver??
