Hi,

I'm new to the Scooby scene and cars, (from VW Golf mk2) so can someone please advise the best oil to use - i have a 2001 Bug eye Wagon wrx, standard, for general use and hopefully the odd track day/runs etc. I have read a few posts but still cant decide what is the best. Spoke to Subaru in Slip End and they recommended 10 -40 Semi Total quartz 7000,

Anyone also recommend any local clubs in Herts/Beds

Thats the basic recommended oil (shell helix 10w40 semi synth) but you can use a 5w40 or even a 10 or 15w50 oil

5w-40 synthetic is a better choice than a 10w-40 semi, especially if you are planning to use it off the road and/or tune it.

Something like the following here: Silkolene Pro S 5w-40, Motul 300V comp 5w-40, Gulf Competition 5w-40

5w-40, 5w-40 oil, 5w40, 5w/40

hi im no expert on this but ive done my home work i use 10w 60 which a scooby tune up place wont use anything but millers cfs they also do a 10w40
subaru main dealers only use 10w 40 even though its only semi

but what i did find out is about 75% of people i spoke to said dont use 5w its no good for scoobys like i said this is just what i found out hope it helps.

5w is fine for scoobies, especially an 01 model. Dont go with 10w-60, its too thick when up to temp.
