first oil and filter change on impreza turbo 99
just purchased said car, love it to bits, puts smile on my face every time i drive it ! and want to do a oil and filter change this weekend, it has a brand new engine thats now covered 32000 miles, so can i use 10w 40 oil, i will change the filter at same time, is this accesable ? also i read that some people remove the fuel pump line and let it crank 20 seconds or so after the change, but others simply let the car idle for a minute or so after oil change, also its best to fill the oil filter before you put it on the car..
can I have your thougts on it ?
thanks

Filter is easy to access - and there isn't much point changing the oil without doing the filter too. Definitely worth filling the filter with oil before you put it on. And, it's not the fuel pump you disconnect, you unplug the crankshaft position sensor (grey connector into brown plastic sensor under the alternator) and then crank the car over on the starter.
This is much better for the engine than starting it immediately and allowing it to idle, as it establishes oil pressure before the bearings are exposed to full combustion forces.
