Default Disable ABS

ABS Light comes on when the car starts to move, assume it's a hub sensor but don't know which one, I can't afford to pay to have it hooked up, sensor and fitting (probably £150ish), can anyone tell me which fuse runs the ABS on a 97 uk classic so I can remove this and clear the light from the dash...

Once I have the cash I'll get it fixed but new discs and pads take priority at the minute, the fronts are worn to the limit...

Cheers

How to invalidate your insurance in one easy go.....
Its a 5 min job to find out which one is faulty on a diagnostics machine, then get the sensor (second hand if you have to) or run around with a "faulty brake system" which will invalidate your insurance (as will removing the fuse).
Oh, check out Bob'5 group buy on discs and pads, oem discs are pretty cheap, as so are pads, your going to be paying less than 70 quid for those not exactly expensive.

I suppose if the fuse was removed when I bought it I'd never know?

I understand what you are saying, I thought ABS wasn't a compulsory item to be road legal? Hooking it up only takes 5 mins yes, but it only takes 1 min to take £150 - £200 notes out of my account at the same time...

Can anyone recommend a garage in the northwest for diagnostics?

the fuse is under the dash by your right knee on a my99, but when you remove it, the abs light will come on to say that it is not working, and it wont work, but the light on the dash will stay on

Forget that one then, the main thing now is to get it hooked up as soon as I can afford it.

Can anyone recommend a garage in St.helens, Wigan or Warrington or maybe a mobile mechanic with the equipment for this?

Any car fitted with ABS needs to have a working ABS system for it to pass an MOT, if its not working then the car will fail, its classed as a part of the braking system and if its faulty then....

But on a brighter side, give Prosport a ring on 0161 432 9999, they are in stockport, and get some brake discs and pads before hand and get them fitted also ask to see how much an ABS sensor will cost you
