What do you wish to achieve by putting in an STi engine?

I'm assuming you mean an STI engine from the same year IE version 5 / 6?

If so I've done this myself, twice. Nothing to it really. Straight forward swap like for like.

You do realise if you put the STI engine in your car it will still be 214bhp, if your after a better engine for power!!! transplant the 2003 onwards STI block

How do you work that out Steve?

My swap took the car from 215 to 280bhp then later 330bhp with a remap.

Both engines are open deck blocks, both use the same crappy rods which is the weak spot, just do a turbo/ecu map change and there ya go cheaper than swapping engines out

Utter tosh! Not pointless at all. Standard UK gearbox will be fine upto 300bhp ish. Above this even the STI box is at risk, brakes are identical on both the STI and Turbo 2000.

Unless he has a blown engine and has been offered an STI as a replacement. That was the case for me and I suspect is the case here.
