does anyone know how dificult and what parts would be needed to put an sti engine into a year 2000 gc8 uk turbo 2000 and what year engine would be most suitable, cheers
You do realise if you put the STI engine in your car it will still be 214bhp, if your after a better engine for power!!! transplant the 2003 onwards STI block
Both engines are open deck blocks, both use the same crappy rods which is the weak spot, just do a turbo/ecu map change and there ya go cheaper than swapping engines out
IMO u need to transfer the rest too.. gearbox, brakes ect.. pointless
Utter tosh! Not pointless at all. Standard UK gearbox will be fine upto 300bhp ish. Above this even the STI box is at risk, brakes are identical on both the STI and Turbo 2000.

Tony
Unless he has a blown engine and has been offered an STI as a replacement. That was the case for me and I suspect is the case here.
