Default engine transplant from v1 to v2

I have recently found that my complete engine belongs to a subaru legacy and that these engines are not as reliable as the wrx engine, what my question is, is this can i put an earlier spec engine 94-95 into my later spec my98 model, i know that the engine will fit but what i want to know is, can i swap the loom, ecu and the inlet manifold over so that it runs using the running gear from the my98 engine rather than having to buy all new running gear also hope someone can help me clear this up.

Provided your MY98 (Version 3~4) Inlet Manifold has an inline bolt pattern, it will fit on to the earlier Version 1~2 engine.
MY98 was the change-over year to Phase 2 engines which use a staggered bolt pattern on the Inlet Manifold/Cylinder heads.
