Bottom end going...
Hi guys, i went to a garage yesterday for a quick check up on my impreza and have been informed the bottom end is on the way out
You can hear the engine grinding slightly when you rev the car and release.
Im guessing its going to be easier to get a new engine dropped in??
its a turbo 2000 my99. i was thinking i would go for a v5/6 Sti engine?
but i have also heard you can drop a 53 onwards sti engine also??
Any advice would be appreciated!
Thanks

From: 1600cc's of twin scroll fun :)
Just get it rebuilt, cost you about 2.5k, more if you go forged, you can drop a v5 STI engine in, no point really as they use the same weak conrods as the uk car anyway, plus there is the minefield of "used" engines out there, if your not after stupid power (which would mean a new gearbox/clutch anyway ) then a rebuild is the way to go (you can even go for uprated parts if you wanted )

i will try to record a sound clip later on today and post it up.
I could really use a second opinion as i am considering selling the car to a breaker and getting a 54 plate Wrx instead...Sad times!!!!
