UK MY99 Intercooler Dilema
I cant make my mind up about what intercooler to go for Front mount means i have to ditch my airbox and go for induction kit then theres the weak maf issue on this year MY99
or go for a secondhand sti tmic but they are going for about £250 and need modding to fit i grudge paying that amount of money for a secondhand intercooler when i could get a good fmic for less
whats the best way to go here guys, should i take my chances with the induction kit
the car will be getting a VF29 Turbo and ecutek remap by andy f
also will i have to ugrade the fuel pump

its a great intercooler and good for big BHP

also on a My00 car no problems with maf,
dont get a cheap induction kit tho, also get Oil free induction kits.

Quite. Just, are you trying to take the record for "number of repetitive FAQ/SIAL-type threads started by the same poster on ultra-narrow variations of the same subject"?
You've done this one to death, surely? From being obsessed with the idea of fitting an FMIC (to the point of having to ask for a turbo that would justify fitting one), you've gone back to deciding that an STi8 TMIC was the thing, and now you're apparently back to dilemmasville. And then there was the VF28 escapade.
Is there anything anyone can say from this point forward that will help you make a decision, if you haven't already been able to do so? You've made changing your intercooler into something that looks as complicated as setting future policy for our troops in Afghanistan!

Sure I remember suggesting exactly that to you about 17.5 light years ago.
You won't go wrong via that route. Remember it's the intercooler that has won five or six production car world rally championships the last few years, they work well.
Ask your mapper (Andy?) what he recommends. The pump supplied as standard on the 99/00 UK car is the same one fitted to the STi versions 5 and 6, and therefore good for appreciably over 300bhp. But, assuming the one in your car is the one it left the factory with, it is now getting on for a decade old, and so it might be worth replacing more as a precautionary measure than any immediate need to upgrade.
