What age/model year, if you know it?

yesterday on the way home the car lost power and started smoking,
Did the Check Engine light come on? When you say the car started smoking, do you mean it was coming from under the bonnet, or from the exhaust, or...?

oil appears to be coming out of dump valve.
Take it that the car has an (aftermarket) externally venting dumpvalve?

the car starts fine and idles great got loads of compression.
How do you know it's got loads of compression? Have you actually done a compression test? If so what sort of pressures did you see?

Also when i removed the bost pipe alot of smoke came from it.
Which boost pipe do you mean, exactly?

Have you tried removing the cylinder head oil breathers when the engine is running to see if any oil vapour or smoke is coming from them?

There are a range of causes for the symptoms you're reporting, although that range includes a blown turbo and serious internal engine damage - so given the amount of time you've had the car you should first be checking the details of any warranty it came with, and whatever rights you have to reject the car. In the meantime, answers to the questions above will help us to advise you.

Hi ive had the car a while now.

the car is 1996,

No engine light came on at the time and isnt currently on

Sorry i mean smoking from the exhaust

yeah its got a bailey dump valve

Also with compression, its a bit dumb to say but its sounds ok on turn over and start straight away

the car has a fmic with massive pipe work going to the relevant places on the turbo etc, it were those that i removed. i also removed the black rubber hose that connects to the top of the turbo with the breathers going into them thats where i found oil in their and on the maf sensor piping.

sorry if i sound a bit vauge

thanks steve

Default bloody car

hi guys i went out to the car today removed the intercooler pipes to the side if turbo there was a lot of oil in their that was leaking out samco hose the connects the pipes, then ive removed the pipe going to the inlet(butterfly) to find milky oil in the pipe boost, (passenger side), like i said the car has a front mount so it has monsterpipe work. ive got fingers in turbo and can move the impeller up down left right.
also the dosent boost as such it trys then drives like crap.

please note no oil in water and vice verser.

any more advise would be great

If you can move your impellor around like that i would suspect a fooked turbo, I would also do a compression test just to make sure all is well internally
