Default BSC Problem

Hi, new here, unfortunatly my first post isn't a good one

I own a 2001 bugeye wrx, it's got a VF34 turbo on it and a front mount.

The problem i have is this: My engine managment light comes on if i bring the car on boost, the code is 0243, boost control solenoid.

If i reset the light i can drive the car around for hours without boost and the light doesn't come on, as soon as it see's boost the light comes back on.

The car doesn't drive very well either, doesn't make any decent boost ie: 0.8bar until 4500rpm and boost continues to climb until 1.4 bar until it the redline.

I changed the solenoid today to a known working one of a mates car and it's still the exact same.

Has anyone come across this problem before?

TIA for any input.

-Kris

Have you had a word with whoever mapped the car?

Tractive mapped the car but the problem is all the mod's, VF34, front mount, full decat exhaust and up pipe, have all been done recently.

Not by me i should add.

It's booked in with AFP on the 2nd of dec but i don't want to take it up to andy with the engine light on

Do you think this could be a map issue, because all the stuff's been fitted afterwords?

So it's been mapped without any of those mods?

I don't know the exact circumstances under which a newage ECU will trigger the boost solenoid error but knowing how quickly they will react to other issues I wouldn't be too surprised. If you're taking it to Andy, probably best to give him a buzz and ask what he thinks might be causing it.

Yes id take a guess the car needs mapping if its had mods fitted> stay well off boost untill its mapped> you COULD do serious damage running it on boost if it runs lean

Yeah, have emailed him as i can never get him on the phone.

I shall await his response then

Thought i'd ask up on first as you guy's know your stuff

Turbotit's, if anything it run's really rich, if the car sit's idling at the light's i get cloud's of vpower round about me, so i don't drive it that much.

I'll change the oil before i take it up to Andy's too just incase there's any fuel in it.

It may run rich at idle Kris, but that's no guarantee that it still will when you wind on some load. Turbotits' advice is good, ignore at your peril.
