Hello all, i own a 1995 WRX and was thinking about upgrading the turbo. Not sure what turbo is currently on it, i take it its a TD04. I have been looking at TD05's. Can anyone advise me what is a good route to take as im not to clued up on this sort of thing. Also is it a big job to change a turbo and would any other parts be needed to be upgraded, and of course the costs needed to do this. As always any advise greatly appreciated.

 

was 95 td05 or td04? but a td05 18g would prob be a goodun to go for

 

Im not to sure mate, not really looked yet. I've seen turbo's on ebay for peanuts ( £100 )

 

stay well celar mate, there cheap for a reason. you get what you pay for.

 

your wrx should have td05 16g as standard mate

 

TD05 16G as standard on yours mate....

Not sure if you are aware but your TD05 16G will get you an impressive 340 to 350BHP and these turbos are much stronger than the IHI variants installed on late 96 and 0nwards cars. You need to uprate your injectors to yellow 440's, A better intercooler than standard this could be front mount or top mount, Decat exhaust and a Remap or change of ECu depending on what you have already.

For remaps and further information on what you can achieve on your existing setup you could speak to Simon @ www.jollygreenmonster.co.uk and he can advise on engine management systems and mapping.

It should be noted that you will have to carry out all the above mods regardless of it being on the TD05 or on another Turbo of your choice.

Standard gearbox is only safe at approx 350BHP after this you will be running on limited time....
