Default Noise coming from gearbox area!!

Hello i hope someone can help.... My classic wrx is making a strange noise, its not really a whining noise i cant really describe it.The faster you go the louder it gets and that in every gear and when u dip the clutch the noise stays the same.I drained gearbox oil and refilled but still no luck.Would it be diff related? Getting fed up of imprezas now!!

Patients my friend

You've had a little trouble with the emissions and a dumb *** tester but you won that one

Now you have a 'noise' from the gearbox you think, not the end of the world Did you check the clutch/box when you had the lump out? Have you checked the diff oil level?? Maybe drain and refill that

At the end of the day you have borght a 16 year old car that has prob been ragged from pillar to post by tom DICK and harry, you cannot expect trouble free motoring

Yeah when dip the clutch it makes no differance. Are u meaning like the altenator belt or something? I just presumed it was something to do with gearbox area as that where i think noise is coming from when driving.

Usually if you have a clutch/box problem the noise/sound will change when the clutch is operated

Try looking/listening elsewhere

I was under car today in pit and sprayed all the bearings with grease that link onto prop shaft but still no joy.Goin to put it up high on 4 axle stands and try get under it when running see if i can find exactly where its coming from. The joys of motoring!
