Default Does a MY98 inlet manifold fit in a MY00?

I want to buy a new engine for my scooby since it died on me a few weeks ago, but this engine has MY98 heads and a MY98 inlet manifold. Does anybody know if this will fit in my MY00? I already figured out that the throttle body is different and the connectors are different. Can we make this work in my car, or is it a hell of a job?

Yes as long as you eigther fit your heads and inlet manifold to the block or keep the MY98 block as it is will be fine.

Edited to say the inlet manifold bolts to the heads so its them that need to match up on th engine

As the other two have (slightly confusingly) said, you cannot bolt an MY00 inlet manifold to a '98 long engine. If you want to replace the entire engine, rather than just the bottom end, then you don't want to start from a 98MY.

If you do want to swap the old engine out in its entirety, you will need a 99/00 donor. Suspect you'll probably be fine with a newage MY01-02 WRX engine as well, assuming you have a GT at the moment.

The correct answer to your original question is no, an MY98 inlet manifold will not fit in an MY00.
