Default Fitting STI intercooler on WRX - Is it easy?

Hello and thanks for reading this -

I have just bought an newage STI intercooler and i plan on fitting this to my newage WRX.

Whilst I appreciate this may be a boring subject and there has probably been many threads along the same lines, I have no idea what is involved.

If anyone can allaborate on what i need to buy and do it would be much appreciated. Will The STI TMIC simply just install to where the WRX TMIC was with the WRX Y-Pipe?

I need your advise.

Thanks
Rob

yes mate wil swap right over, the tubo pipe will be a tad too big on the intercooler to the turbo as wrx has baby turbo, so make sure u use a decent jubilee clip and make it nice and tight,
other than that happy days

Only tip is to loosen the brackets on the block when you refit the TMIC and then tighten as you may need the little bit of play this allows to fit the STi one snuggly. Also you need the scoop and undertray to get the most out of it.

Definitely get the undertray, to make sure the air is directed over the larger surface. Not much benefit to the sti intercooler if the wrx undertray only pushes air over the same surface area as it did before. Worth getting a samco y pipe at the same time?

Doh, link fail

What I was trying to link to was a post about the undertray...

I modified my 03 tray. Essentially, I got an sti undertray, cut it up so that I only had the bottom part. Then I cut off the top (scoop part) of my old undertray and pop riveted them together.

That way, I ended up with an undertray that covers the intercooler *and* fits into the scoop.

If you just get the STI undertray on its own, you also need an STI scoop for the tray to fit.

I can not seem to attach a picture grrrr.

Here is my car if you can inform me if it is a larger enough scoop?

Has anyone got an undertray for sale?
