Default 03 Induction Hose fitting

hi,

is it possible to fit a silicone induction hose on a newage STi without removing the manifold? I have seen a video of it being done, but I just had a go and it seems physically impossible?

thanks,

If it's possible it'd be a right pest and you run the risk of chewing the pipe up as you try and contort it into place. Probably quicker and certainly less ballache to pull the manifold and do it the easy way.

Perrin show a film of it being done and claim something like 27 min. to do it!
It's on their website.

Hi,

I think i could get the old one out,if I chop it up,but I'm not sure if I'll get the new one in. I know to do it right the manifold has to come off but i wouldn't be comfortable doing that, and a garage has quoted me 235 pounds.

the very garage that quoted this price said I hear you can do it by chopping up the old one,but trying to get a feel for if this is possible before I get into and cut the old one up and end up stuck on my drive.

thanks guy's,

Mine was a b*gg*r to fit, WAY easier to just lift the inlet, as I did after a few minutes swearing....

IMHO

P.S. As it is old and brittle, I used a hammer and chisel to "knock" the (technical bit !) sticky-outy bits clean off......

download the youtube video and you can slow it down and see what they actually do, they do make it look so easy.

Japspeed hose turned up today!

don't think I'll get chance to fit it until Saturday morning, It seems a little stiffer than I imagined, should I take out all the metal connections?

Hi,

after a 3 hour job it's on,the old one was indeed knackered,but....I still have this overboost problem. The new induction hose wouldn't require a map change would it?

I put my standard air filter back in ,in place of my Green filter and it made it better...but still overboosting.

I'm so annoyed,I can't understand what it can be.

because the car's been used to sucking in too much air, could the ECU need a re-set?

I'm so stumped....

Hey, i did that intake pipe swap a few months ago leaving the manifold on, right pain isnt it! hacked the old plastic 1 up getting it out, so had no choice but to get the silicone one in lol, took about an hour to get it all done!

I doubt that, or the air filter be causing the overboost, get it on a rolling road?

Many cars suffer from higher boost levels in cold weather, mine's o.k. as it was mapped on a cold March evening around 9 PM., thanks to the one and only JGM.

Default wr1 boost

Hey,

yeah that's what I initially thought,we went from 10 oc,to 6oc and that's when I noticed it.

I drove to my girlfriends around tea time, and then on the way home around 11pm I noticed this slight whistle, and I remember getting in the car thinking it's damn cold.

as I say I now have the stock air filter back in and it's a lot better, but i'm not sure if that proves anything.I also re-set the ECU earlier and that also seem's to have made it better,if you had the radio on you would't even notice it.

the thing that keep's coming back into my head is the car ran fine for 2 weeks,so if the mapping was off, surely it would have kicked up a fuss before 2 week's of driving?

I'm trying to find somebody that can pressure test it,other than that I'v no clue, thanks for your help guy's,I appreciate it.

Ben,

Hi,

I'm not entirely sure if it's overboosting or something different. I haven't noticed any 'problems' other than a fluttering sound when coming on boost, and a slight whistle or screech.

hey, i wouldnt worry too much about it, u say its quietened down since fittin standard filter back in? It could just be induction sound with the other filter sometime you can hear your turbo flutter more.

this since having it remapped? as u'll noticed more turbo whistle an so on as it'll more than likely be boosting harder than it was orginally

Hey,

I'm starting to think it's more the cold weather...but it's a standard WR1 ECu so how can that be?
