Default which brand of oil?

Hey folks iv just had my engine rebuilt by Alan Jeffrey and his gang at engine tuner, and was advised to stick with a mineral oil of a 15w40 grade while i run the newly built engine in, i was advised to change the oil and filter at 500 miles and then again at 1000 miles and not to exceed 4000rpm unless in a emergency and at 3000 miles a fully synthertic may be used. What i would like to know is: which brand of oil did some of you guys use when you had your engines rebuilt? Because there are loads of brands out there and i just dont know which one to choose.

many thanx
Den.

I dont know what type of subaru you drive, but its 15w-50 fully synthetic for jap import classics, 10w-60 oil is too thick in my opinion

Any good brand like Motul, Mobil 1 etc are good

I agree, SAE60 is too thick for even the most extreme scoobs.

SAE40 and SAE50 are ideal depending on state of tune and use.

i drive a 97 uk classic and that is the right oil for it as its a higher mileage engine.just think how hot the turbo gets and the oil needs a higher temp range than normal.this is advice given to me by some top drivers and builders in my area.

The 10w-60? The Millers is a good oil but not the best grade.

10w-50 would be ideal.

Cheers

Any mineral or semi-synthetic 10w-40

Opie Oils - Semi Synthetic

the Fuchs XTR is a good one.
