Default New Classic drop links - noisy !!

Fitted some powerflex rear drop links and some standard form ebay ones (the balljointed type) to the front, all brand new (the old ones at the front were not noisy but had to destroy them to get them off to fit new anti rill bar bushes, anyway, the brand new ones are noisy as hell over speed bump etc even jacking the front up you can hear them clonking while the suspension drops when the wheel gets in the air

how come, the original ball jointed didnt make noise, they were not cheap, £60 for the pair of fronts !!!

Because they have used ball joints that aren't designed for the forces that they are now exposed to.

yeah, suppose you dont know these parts are not as good until you use them

i can live with the noise, its not a major,i suppose if i was selling it it could put people off but i will keep these inferior ones at the front until a time i can get some genuine ones

well,it turns out it wasnt the drop links, it was the new polyurathene anti roll bar bushes making the noise, very weird,so i put some cv grease around the bar/bush and all is quiet now

for brand new bushes i dont know why they made the noise, was like they were too tight but they are the right size

anyhoo, all sorted now,the grease shoulnt wash off from between the bush/rollbar either as its such a tight fit

Those poly bushes must be lubricated with the specil lube. Don't use WD40 or other oil based lube as it will make the bushes swell and sieze. Rubber OE bushes twist with the bar poly bushes don't and if they sieze they make a crack noise on release.

They need regular lubing too. Some people find this out after poly bushing the whole car... The hard to get to bushes can be the worst!
