Default simtek vs standard ecu

what difference would fitting a simtek make on my sti. car has bigger turbo, typhoon fitted now. planning to get full decat, headers and up pipe and fmic in the spring so was thinkin why not get a simtek instead of remappin my ecu again or is it not worth it ?

I would stick with your standard ECU on an 04 STI, if you were really wanting to upgrade then the solaris would be the better one to go for, the simtek is great on classics but the later new age ECU's are much better than those were with more capacity

so what difference would the solaris make. its just that they cost a fare bit which is fine if i see some difference but will it be enough difference to warrant the £

You can have mulitple maps, anti lag etc, its a better ecu over the simtek but its not really worth it unless you plan on spending a fair bit on your engine as the standard ecu can cope with what you want

Its a lot of money for anti lag that you wont use that much. (and probably shouldnt use that much)

The std ecu works just great up to 450bhp ish then moving to a MAP based ecu may make the driving sensation a tad smoother.

Solaris is a great ecu and as a next step on would be the ecu of choice IMO.
