Just had the exact same problem on my brothers corrado g60. It would run for about 5 minutes, then push water out the blow off. Changed the cap and still the same.
Changed the entire header tank and cap last night and hey presto. Its almost like there was a one way valve in the expansion tank also, or a pressure release disk, which maybe burst? Anyway, don't listen to them saying you need a new engine - go to a garage that knows wrxs/stis for a second opinion.

in my experience when a scooby spits water out it's head gasket time. you can do whatever checks you can think of and they will show nothing.
after a while as it gets worse it will start to overheat after a run or throw more water out these seem to be the most common signs of head gaskets on a scoob

Also check the thermostat has not jammed. I.E. after a drive the top and bottom pipe on the radiator should be hot. If the top is hot and the bottom is cold then the thermostat is jammed (it lives on the bottom pipe).
This again would tend towards needing to replace the head gasket.

Take out your spark plug and see if one of them has a rust stain on it. This may tell you how bad the gasket is gone and what side.
Is you oil looking milky? IE. white sludge in the filler pipe neck or milky on the dipstick? Even if the oil filler neck is not milky check for condensation on the inside of the cap after a run.
