UK spec 1996 Problem - Help
Hi all,
Ive got a 1996 P plate uk spec impreza turbo wagon...
Driving along one day when suddenly the car completely cut out and would not restart, it turned out to be the fuel pump was knackered.... So fitted a walbro whilst we had everything out, that lasted all of 2 weeks and was completly stuffed!!! so, back to the standard fuel pump
It starts and drives but the engine check light has come on, revs are a minimum of 1500 to 2000 and is firing on 3 cylinders since the first cut out on the original standard pump, but every now and then it will start and run perfectly, until the car starts moving then it will play up. I have done endless code check and it came up with throttle position switch, boost pressure sensor and airflow meter... all of which have been replaced with parts that have been proven to work fine
I have found a yellow diagnostic plug under the dashboard its a 9 pin connector with only 5 wires fitted in, does anyone know what diagnostic computer will connect to this as its not an OBD system
PLUS has anyone else had the same if not similar probs, any advice will be gladly appreciated and may result in beer tokens if im able to fix this problem
Thanks
Greg

chances are the 02 sensor is throwing up the codes for maf and boost , if it runs lumpy as then the 02 could be gone . as for the fuel pump walbro pumps do not fail after 2weeks i had the same problem it turned out to be the wiring plug for pump corroded inside . you will find this under the back seat on drivers side ,same thing happened to me cut out and would not start 4 love nor money . done the connector and its never played up since ,, hope this helps
