Default camshaft sensor

If the camshaft sensor was slightly out of position could it affect the cars ignition and the engines timing ?

its cracked off the timing belt cover , sum1 in the past has put glue on it which has now cracked.

so its out of position.

im going to reglue it with proper heat expanding glue.

just wondering is that what would make the car underperform
