many a question, in need of answers.....
hello everyone just looking for some advice on the following:
- best place to get a baffled sump?
- best place to get a reasonable manifold and up pipe?
- what injectors do i need to achieve 400/400?
- where to get injectors from?
- what turbo should i go for?
- where to get a carbon fibre bonnet from?
- where can i get some track ready tires from road or race legal?
cant think of anything else right now but any help any one can give me will be gratefully recieved
regards
Dan

starting with the sump.are you wanting a fully baffled sump or a baffle plate.as the cosworth baffle plates are around £160-£180 but the fully baffled sumps are around £450.is the car just for track or a bit of both.

if its solely for track then i would get the fully baffled sump and have done with it.as for the manifold and uppipe try HARVEY who advertises on here,he normally does good prices for them.injectors i would say for around the 400 bhp mark you will need around 650cc ones.carbon fibre bonnet, keep looking through ebay as there is always stuff like that on there.turbo,a good one is the md321h for around 400bhp.give somewhere like scoobyclinic a call for turbo, injectors they should be able to advise you more.

Your engine won't do 400bhp, sell the car and buy a newage STI that will do 400bhp or spend about 10k making your car suitable to do 400bhp.
You will need some of the following parts, fmic, bigger injectors, new gearbox (the uk cars have a weak gearbox, actually all classics have fairly weak gearboxes) your options are a ppg gearbox (about 4 to 5k) or a newage sti 6 speed box and diff@2.5k.
Your engine will need to be fully forged, should cost you around 1500 quid for reasonable parts, for track then you will no doubt need an oil cooler etc etc etc.

Tell me about it people think these engines are strong when they are not
Considering back in 2000 when the limits on these engines was 320-330bhp with water injection etc before being rebuilt, the internals have not suddenly become stronger overnight
Oh, OP, why the hell do you want a carbon fibre bonnet? If its for weight saving then your on the wrong track as subaru make the lightest bonnets for these

its because it folded over the roof and i will cost about the same for me to buy one and have it resprayed unless you know somewhere cheap for me to get a bonnet from and its getting fully forged to cope. the only reason i havent gone for the newage classic is im only 22 and the tax is 440 and insurance is 2500 minimum which isnt a problem but i already pay 40% tax on my wages and im not paying the gov anymore money than i have to lol

the tax has changed as of this year all cars over 2001 plate that pay top tax like ours have gone from 200 a year to 440 a year i still want to use it on the road as well other wise i would buy an older sti and track that fully.

Anything registered before 23rd March 2006 and over a certain limit will fall into band K I think you will find - £215 for the year in 2010 rising to £245 next year.

As said, if its a UK MY99 car then its 190 per year.
I would also bin the idea of using a classic, the modifications will put your insurance through the roof, if your paying 2.5k now, when you add the rest it will probably double that, either look for something like a lotus elise or an ariel atom (caterham etc) as those will be far better suited to the track (and cost you less in insurance).
